What is Unconditioned Reinforcement?
Unconditioned Reinforcement refers to things that are naturally reinforcing without any learning history. You were born liking them. They are necessary for survival or biological comfort.
Synonyms: Primary Reinforcer, Unlearned Reinforcer.
For your RBT practice test, memorize the "Big 5":
- Food / Water (Survival)
- Sleep (Recovery)

Why Use Them?
They are powerful! If a child is hungry, a cracker is a very strong motivator. However, we try not to rely on them forever because they are susceptible to Satiation (getting full).
