What are Individualized Assessments?

These are Curriculum-Based, Developmental, or Social Skills assessments. They are not looking for "problem behaviors" (FBA); they are looking for skill deficits. What does the child need to learn?

Common Assessments an RBT might assist with:
- VB-MAPP: Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment (Language).
- ABLLS-R: Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills.
- AFLS: Assessment of Functional Living Skills (Cooking, Cleaning).

RBT Role

You assist. The BCBA might say: "Hey, try to see if he can match these pictures." You run the trial and record the score. You are the data collector.

For your RBT practice test, remember that these assessments are used to write the Skill Acquisition Plan (IEP/Treatment Plan).

Frequently Asked Questions About Individualized Assessments

Language and social skills based on Skinner's Verbal Behavior (Mand, Tact, Intraverbal).

What does AFLS measure?

Independent living skills (Life skills).

No, the BCBA chooses it. The RBT assists in running it.

Why are they "individualized"?

Because every client has a different skill set. We don't teach everyone the same thing.
